Named after the picturesque that inspired it. Nestled on a ridge ("lomba") overlooking Maia, this charming area boasts stunning coastal views and a rich cultural heritage.

A place known for its abundant production of animal fodder, Fenais da Ajuda is also associated with Nossa Senhora da Ajuda, or Our Lady of Help, the patron saint of assistance, and once housed a Franciscan monastery dedicated to her in the parish.

Named after Lagoa de São Brás, a lagoon located 610 meters above sea level in Ribeira Grande. The stunning body of water showcases the untouched beauty of its surroundings, with Macaronesian flora, serene grazing meadows, and impressive dimensions.

Maia Queen Suite

Room 5 | Living room, bedroom; 1 queen bed

The Maia room is named after the charming perish where Solar de Lalém is located. Renowned for its natural pools, waterfall beach, and stunning coastal view in Northern São Miguel, its name derived from its founder, Inês da Maia, a Portuguese aristocrat who established the town in the 15th century.

Porto Formoso is Solar de Lalém's neighboring parish, meaning "Beautiful Port." Rich in history, Porto Formoso dates back to the early 16th century and is known for its stunning coastline, historical church, and tranquil seaside atmosphere.

Priolo

Room 7 | 1 double bed

Garden Room 7 ‘Priolo’ at Solar de Lalem, featuring a double bed with a carved wooden frame, classic furnishings, a cozy red armchair, and views of the surrounding garden through bright windows.

The Priolo room is named after the endemic bird species found exclusively in the eastern part of São Miguel Island. This tiny bird, emblematic of the Nordeste and Povoação districts, attracts numerous tourists and is under threat of extinction. 

Milhafre

The Milhafre room is named after the local bird species that dominated the skies above the remote archipelago of the Azores. It is a buzzard species that became emblematic of the islands, with the Portuguese explorers mistaking it for goshawks.

Canário

Named after the picturesque Lagoa do Canário, a stunning volcanic crater in Serra Devassa. Situated approximately 800 meters above sea level, this enchanting lagoon is surrounded by lush Macaronesian forests and captivating cryptomeria plantations.

Verdilhão

Room 10 | ​2 twin beds

Garden Room 10 ‘Verdilhão’ at Solar de Lalem, a spacious suite with two twin beds, a dining area, a cozy sitting space with a sofa, and a decorative wooden screen separating the living and sleeping areas

This room is named after the vibrant greenfinch bird species that predominantly nests in São Miguel and Terceira, with fewer sightings in Pico. The greenfich bird showcases its olive-green plumage with hints of vibrant yellow in males, including wing bars, tail, and rump, while juveniles exhibit a browner plumage compared to the adults.
