The Solar de Lalém Women's Retreat is your invitation to step away from your busy life and return to yourself: to nature, to stillness, to your body.
Each morning begins with a barre or yoga session led by our wellness expert, paired with tailor-made vegetarian meals designed to detox, reset and energize your mind and body throughout the weekend.
Between self-care activities, sessions including sunset cliff walks, massages in the garden, and quiet meditations woven through the manor's private gardens, the island is yours to wander.
This isn't a getaway. It's a reset. A weekend to unplug from your inbox, your to-do list, and the noise of everyday life and come home lighter, clearer, and more you.

Katie Lambert
Barre and Yoga Instructor
Katie is a Barre and Yoga teacher currently based in Paris. She brings positive energy and sunshine to every class, combining precision and thoughtful technique with original combinations and creative movement to keep sessions fun, challenging and uplifting. Her aim is always to help people move well and feel stronger for it. As the instructor for the Solar de Lalem retreat, she brings enthusiasm, encouragement and a fresh approach to every session, helping each guest leave feeling their best.

Anna Becker
Food Scientist
Anna is passionate about creating vegetarian food that makes you feel good: nourishing, seasonal and full of flavour. With a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Food Science and a Master's degree in Food Science, she brings a strong scientific foundation to her cooking, alongside a lifelong love of experimenting with vegetarian cuisine. As a product developer at a ginger shot start-up, she specialises in developing new recipes and food concepts, with particular expertise in cold-pressed juices and wellness shots, celebrating local, seasonal ingredients and generous, sharing dishes that prove food designed to nourish the body can be deeply satisfying too.

Célia Rakotondrainy
Artist and Workshop Instructor
Célia is a self-taught painter with ten years of professional experience, her work shown internationally and featured in Architectural Digest, The Washington Post and The New York Times. She explores the fluidity and complexity of identity through contrasting textures, drawing on her Malagasy heritage to blend realism, surrealism and symbolism. As the instructor for this workshop, she places great importance on sharing her practice, guiding guests through a 3 hour session to discover, experiment with and create their own canvas.

Renske Skills
Sound Bath Therapist
With more than 30 years of experience working with movement, music and body awareness, Renske is a choreographer, dancer, yoga and Qigong instructor. Her background in dance, yoga, healing arts, Qigong and sound healing brings a creative, intuitive and expressive dimension to her practice. As the retreat's Sound Bath therapist, she creates a live sonic journey using a rich collection of instruments from different cultures and traditions, combined with her own voice and intuitive singing, guiding guests through singing bowls, gongs, percussion and more.

Susan Entress Nagel
Integrative Medicine Physician
Dr. Susan Entress Nagel is currently an Integrative Medicine Fellow at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, where her training emphasizes a whole-person approach to health and well-being. With a particular focus on nutrition and lifestyle, she helps clients explore practical, evidence-based approaches to supporting greater balance, vitality, and long-term wellness. Dr. Entress Nagel is a US board-certified family physician and holds an M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.P.H. in Public Health Nutrition from NYU, and advanced training in clinical nutrition.

Filomena
Massage Therapist
Filomena is a massage therapist offering treatments focused on rest, recovery and easing tension. Her offerings span Ayurvedic and herbal compress massage, relaxation massage, candle massage, manual lymphatic drainage and facial treatments. As the retreat's massage therapist, she brings a quiet, restorative space for guests to slow down and feel more at ease.

Débora Moniz
Bodywork Therapist
Débora Moniz is a wellness therapist specialising in Oriental bodywork, with over ten years of experience in massage, relaxation and holistic wellbeing. Her training draws on Shiatsu, Thai Massage, Ayurveda, Lomi Lomi, reflexology and Indian massage, alongside aromatherapy and sound healing. She creates many of the natural oils and products used in her own treatments. Her signature offering, Freestyle Therapy, moves away from fixed protocols, adapting each session intuitively to the person in front of her, with touch, sound and atmosphere shaping the experience. As the retreat's bodywork therapist, she brings a space to slow down, reconnect with the body and be present.
About the Hotel

Set on the volcanic island of São Miguel, known as the "Hawaii of the Atlantic," within the gardens of a 17th-century Azorean villa once home to Portuguese royalty, this is a retreat built entirely for women ready to reset amidst historic, island charm.
Conveniently located about 30 minutes from the Ponta Delgada airport, you’ll enjoy then quietness of the island located on the northern peninsula.

Every dish is intentional. Working alongside a food scientist, an integrative health doctor, and a vegetarian chef specialist, we've built a menu around one goal: giving your body what it needs to detox, reset and energize. Expect vegetarian, nutrient dense plates drawing on the Azores' own volcanic-soil produce, built to support digestion, restore energy, and leave you feeling
lighter with every meal. This is food as part of the practice, not an afterthought to it.
